Are the batteries guaranteed?

Watch batteries are guaranteed for a period of 1 year. We change so many batteries that our entire supply is replenished on a regular basis. This means that we use only the freshest batteries with very little exhausted shelf life. You will only be billed for watches that are functioning at the time they are shipped out. You are not charged for service or the battery for watches that do not work after being serviced. A typical watch battery should last about one year, In many watches a battery will last 2-3 years. Some watches that take 3-volt batteries will last 5 years. If the watch stops working before that time, it is likely a sign that there is a problem with the circuitry of the watch rather than the battery. We will offer a credit for a free battery replacement in the future for those that stop within 1 year of our service. All such credits must be authorized by our customer service department.

Limitations of Water Resistance?

The different levels of water resistance as expressed in meters are only theoretical. They refer to the depth at which a watch will keep out water if both watch and the water are perfectly motionless. These conditions, of course, are never met in the real swimmer's or diver's world. In real life, the movement of the wearer's arm through the water increases the pressure on the watch dramatically; so it can't be worn to the depths indicated by lab testing machines.

Usage Recommendations

The following usage recommendations are suggested by most watch manufacturers.

  • Water-resistant to 30 meters (100 feet). Will withstand splashes of water or rain but should not be worn while swimming or diving.
  • Water-tested to 50 meters (165 feet). Suitable for light water activities such as swimming in shallow water.
  • Water-tested to 100 meters (330 feet). Suitable for swimming and snorkeling.
  • Water-tested to 150 meters (500 feet). Suitable for snorkeling.
  • Water-tested to 200 meters (660 feet). Suitable for skin diving.
  • Diver's 150 meters (500 feet). Meets ISO standards and is suitable for scuba diving.
  • Diver's 200 meters (660 feet). Meets ISO standards and is suitable for scuba diving.

Please note that we do not recommend swimming or diving with your watch unless it has a screw-down crown (also known as screw-lock or screw-in crown) and is water-resistant to at least 100 meters.

Is my watch still water-resistant?

All water resistant watches are made so by a series of gaskets and seals that lock water out of the watch movement. The effectiveness of that system can be compromised by general wear and tear and, of course, by opening the watch to change the battery. Water testing is recommended for any watch you plan to submerge. It is a specialized air pressure chamber that tells you if air is passing into the watch. You will not be charged for the test if your watch does not pass. A watch with a failed test may still function fine, but should not be submerged in the future. Watches passing the pressure tested are warrantied water resistant for 1 year . Please contact our service department for warranty repair information at . Please be advised that water resistant watches must be used properly to avoid damage. Watches can be damaged by water if the crown is left open or pushers are pressed underwater.

What if it doesn’t work?

Watches are complex devices and sometimes the problem is more significant than a dead battery. If we put a fresh battery in your watch and it does not function, we will do everything we can to get it running without doing any major repairs. We will not charge any additional service fee for cleaning the contacts, rotating the wheels, removing of any visible dirt or obstructions, etc. If we find that a major repair is necessary, we do not charge you for the battery or service and we will contact you with a repair estimate.

Why is my watch skipping 3-4 seconds at a time?

This is a sure sign that your battery is dying. Your watch will likely stop within 30 days.

Why is my watch slowing down & stopping?

Very likely a battery, but could also mean that the circuit is shorting out and may have to be changed.

Why did my watch stop completely?

The most likely cause is a dead battery. We can replace it properly and return your watch in full working order.

I dropped my watch and it stopped?

The fall may have shorted out the battery in which case a new one will restore it to full functioning.

The light on my watch is no longer working?

Most of the time a new battery will correct that. If it does not work with a new battery, it may mean that the contact for the light feature is bad which we will try to repair at no additional cost when the battery is replaced.

Why are my batteries dying faster now than when the watch was new?

All the parts of a new watch are functioning at their optimum level, reducing the draw on the battery. Normal wear and tear on the mechanism and circuit cause resistance and drain the battery more quickly. A watch battery should last around 1 year. If your batteries are depleting in less than a year, it is a sign that the watch needs additional repair.

Do you take links out of metal watchbands?

Yes, we can do most models.

Can I just send you my watch and not wait for a box?

Certainly. For quicker service, you can send the watch by selecting option 1 and printing your pre paid label, please send it in a sturdy box.

Can you change the battery in my Seiko Kinetic or Citizen Eco-Drive?

Seiko Kinetic and Citizen Eco-Drive watches do not use silver oxide or lithium batteries like other watches. They use a capacitor sometimes called a 'power cell' or 'secondary battery' to collect energy generated by the spinning weight on a Kinetic or the solar cell in an Eco-Drive. We specialize in replacing the capacitors in these watches.
